Happy hump day! For this week’s Woman Crush Wednesday, I’m diving back down the never-ending hole that is YouTube. This week’s crush is not just any YouTuber—she’s also a director, actor, and gay icon.
Alexis G. Zall might be most well known for her YouTube channel, but she has used her internet stardom to launch a successful acting and directing career. At only 20 years old, her IMDb credits are already quite impressive. She’s played parts in several movies and TV shows and is currently playing the role of Jackie Geary on The Goldbergs.
Alexis has been making YouTube videos since 2011 and has since amassed over 1.1 million subscribers. Her videos have changed through the years, starting with comedy sketches and tag videos with her friends and eventually evolving into more professionally produced content. ON her eighteenth birthday, Alexis posted a video called “18 Tips for 18 Years” in which she came out as a lesbian. Since then, she’s tailored her content to be relatable for her audience of queer girls. Her video “Why I’m Gay (with illustrations)” addresses the words that every queer woman has heard at some point in time—“Prove it!”
Alexis is an important internet presence because she’s so young and so confident—in her identity, her work, her voice, and her talent. As a member of Gen Z myself, I love to see someone so young kicking ass like Alexis. She’ll make you laugh and then make you want to go finish that project you abandoned. You know the one.
