Happy Wednesday, everyone! For this week’s crush, I’m straying away from the music world and dragging you down the dark and twisted path that is YouTube. But fear not—we’re staying far away from slime videos and ASMR (which I’m still not convinced is not a sex thing, but that’s a debate we can have another time) and exploring the happy side of YouTube. Lesbian YouTube. And if you’ve spent any time digging through lesbian YouTube, you probably know about the patron saints of this side of the internet: Rose and Rosie.
Rose and Rosie (Rose Ellen Dix and Rosie Spaughton) are a married couple based in the UK. They’ve been on YouTube for quite some time—they uploaded their first video together in 2011, right at the beginning of their relationship. Since then, they’ve grown their YouTube fanbase to over 800,000 subscribers. They’ve shared every bit of their relationship with us—how they met, their engagement, their wedding, moving houses, etc. Last year, they released a book called Overshare which you can check out here if you’re so inclined.
I think one of the reasons why I love Rose and Rosie so much is because they serve as an example of a real, normal queer relationship. Like I said in the first post of this series, representation is important, and Rose and Rosie are as real as it gets. They aren’t a fictional couple made up of fictional characters. They’re a real life married couple who have given us the privilege of being able to take a peek into their lives. If you need some hope that love is real, Rose and Rosie might be that spark of hope for you.
If you’re looking for a starting place, I’ll recommend “How Well Do You Know Me,” “Try Not To Laugh Challenge,” or for something more serious, Rosie’s “Bisexy” series.
