i asked for an apology or 

at least you acknowledge what you put me through

but to you, i was asking for the world

when it’s really such a simple gesture.

 

i didn’t know wanting you to own up to your mistakes would end with you walking away. 


you made me doubt what you did

like i was overreacting to the pain

but a person can only take so many lies

without an apology following behind. 


i don’t want to play victim 

or make you seem like a bad guy

but you stole my peace from me,

something i can’t live without. 



 

Imani is a non-binary lesbian poet and author that wants to change the world with their writing. In May of 2018, they self-published their first poetry book, “Feel. Forgive.
