Sore Throat Tea Remedy by Jasmine Torres

Over the last week or so, I gave into the many pleasures that happened to fall into my lap and allowed myself to indulge in the many bacchanal celebrations that being 21 had to offer. In a desperate retaliation, my body urged me to slow the fuck down by employing its favorite tactic — the dreaded brown bottle flu. Waking up with a throbbing headache is one thing, but a throat as dry as Mars is enough to make one think about asking any god for absolution. In those moments, choking on the arid air scraping down my throat, I immediately went to this recipe for all my healing needs. What you need: * 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric * 2 slices Lemon * As much Honey as your heart desires * 6 - 8 oz Water * Your favorite cup Start by heating up about 6 to 8 oz of water or however much fits in your favorite coffee/tea cup. Once it’s all nice and warm, add in your Turmeric. You can squeeze in the Lemon or drop the slices into the cup all together. Add honey to your preferred taste. As you stir in your ingredients imagine yourself happy, healthy, and ready to seize the day! While holding the cup in your hands, take in each sip feeling the warmth of the tea soothe your throat and fill your chest with good healing energy. Bonus: Stir your tea clockwise to increase an intention for your day. Stir counterclockwise to decrease a force. In the mornings I love to stir my teas clockwise to promote positivity and love! Why these ingredients? Knowing why you use certain ingredients is just as important as the recipe itself. The following three ingredients have some great medicinal and magical correspondences that are absolutely vital to this lovely little recipe. Turmeric Turmeric, a cousin to Ginger, has many beneficial properties for you health as it is a wonderful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant spice that provides major hero support to the liver. Good for: Protection, Purification, Banishing Lemon Bless Lemon, another antioxidant that proves to be an excellent source of vitamin C. Lemon is great for aiding problems with indigestion as well as promoting healthy skin and hair when applied properly. Due to its antibacterial properties, Lemon is great for this recipe as it soothes the throat and helps fight off any infections that may try to invade your body. Good for: Cleansing, Healing, Purification, Love Honey Nature’s cough syrup! Honey is another antioxidant whose anti-inflammatory properties helps coat any sore throat. Being a great antibacterial, Honey will also aid in the fight against any sickness as well as allergies! Plus the warm and delicious taste is the perfect sweetener for your tea.
