occhiolism by Eunice Kim

Updated: Apr 15, 2019

portrait of a girl as longing, girl as home rendered in light, girl with a citrus mouth & sunscape hands. heartbreak girl / heartache girl. melodrama in three acts, meaning tragedy is the last one. see the drowned light pouring onto our hands? see me, foxglove at my mouth? we are both kneeling begging for forgiveness & absolution is an ochre-colored word / there’s never enough of it to turn to gold. rome crashes against the curve of your back. all roads lead back to you. & she says, there is a world where angels are made of sunrise & something ruinous. let me take you home. let me fold pages of history above our heads so we can search for something greater in them. you know i would have loved you in a past life.
