Lilies by Virginia Petrucci

Exploring the border between actuality and tale is

my love for a woman so dark, so rare

that even the courage of the sun cannot spread

a shadow beneath her feet

Nor can the moon spare

an ill-lit defeat

I hunger for her hands against

my face like a woman

maddened by untrappable lust

for another unkeepable femme

I hunger for her petals

Marching the border, I have spotted a flower, a

white fellow to my secret spirit

And when I find the woman I’ve been dreaming of,

I shall stuff her full of lilies
